OBJECTIVES After reading the article, Trends in Breast Cancer by Race and Ethnicity, the learner should be able to:

•  Describe the recent trends in incidence rates among women with breast cancer based on race and ethnicity, including those broken down by tumor size and disease stage at diagnosis.

•  Discuss the recent trends in mortality and survival rates among women with breast cancer based on race and ethnicity.

•  Describe the recent trends in the use of screening mammography based on race and ethnicity.

•  Understand the methodology used to determine these numbers.

The American Cancer Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of one-half category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he or she actually spent in the activity.
