LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The Staging of Cancer: A Retrospective and Prospective Appraisal
After completing this activity, the learner should be able to:
• Describe the general principles of tumor (T), node (N), and metastasis (M) classification and stage grouping.
• Discuss recent changes in N classification and their clinical significance.
• Describe some factors likely to influence the future of cancer staging.
The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
