LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Implications of Phytoestrogen Intake for Breast Cancer

After completing this activity, the learner should be able to:

•  Discuss the epidemiological evidence of an association between phytoestrogen intake and breast cancer risk.
•  Review the available evidence regarding the safety of phytoestrogen intake for breast cancer survivors and the effects of phytoestrogens on menopausal symptoms and risk of cancer recurrence.
•  Discuss the limitations of current evidence regarding soy and breast cancer.

The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
