OBJECTIVES After reading the article Current Approaches to Helping Children Cope with a Parent's Terminal Illness, the learner should be able to:

•  Discuss differences and similarities in the response to parental death among children ages 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 11.

•  Discuss the range of normal bereavement in each of these age groups and identify children at risk for or experiencing pathology associated with parental death.

•  List and explain ways in which health care professionals can facilitate a child's recovery from parental loss.

The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Award.

This activity is approved for 1 AAFP Prescribed credit. Credit may be claimed for 1 year from the date of this issue. The physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent in the educational activity. This quiz must be submitted online by July 1, 2007.
