OBJECTIVES After reading the article Guidelines for Colonoscopy Surveillance after Cancer Resection: A Consensus Update by the American Cancer Society and US Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer, the learner should be able to:
Discuss recommendations for surveillance colonoscopy in patients with colon and rectal cancer.
Describe the distinction between surveillance for detection of synchronous and metachronous lesions.
Discuss unresolved issues in postcancer surveillance and areas of current research.
The ACS designates this education activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Award.
This activity is approved for 1 AAFP Prescribed credit. Credit may be claimed for 1 year from the date of this issue. The physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent on the educational activity. This quiz must be submitted online by May 1, 2007.
