OBJECTIVES After reading the article, Dying, Dignity, and New Horizons in Palliative End-of-Life Care, the learner should be able to:

•  Discuss the key elements and goals of palliative care.

•  Understand the impact and interplay of psychiatric, existential, and spiritual issues at the end of life.

•  Discuss some promising interventions for improving quality of life in a palliative care setting.

The ACS designates this education activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Award.

This activity is approved for 1 AAFP Prescribed credit. Credit may be claimed for 1 year from the date of this issue. The physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent on the educational activity. This quiz must be submitted online by March 1, 2007.
