OBJECTIVES After reading the article, Information Technology and Cancer Prevention, the learner should be able to:

•  Discuss the strength of evidence regarding effectiveness of cancer screening reminder systems.

•  Discuss the kinds of patient and physician reminder interventions that have been studied.

•  Explain the role of reminder systems within the broader context of processes for increasing screening prevalence.

•  Discuss the gaps in current evidence and opportunities for future research in this field.

The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one-half category .5 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
