OBJECTIVES: After reading the article, Pharmacotherapy for Nicotine Dependence, the learner should be able to:
• Appreciate the important role of clinicians in tobacco use cessation.
• Describe the role of nicotine replacement therapy in smoking cessation.
• Understand how the various forms of nicotine replacement therapy are used.
• Describe the use of nonnicotine pharmacotherapy in smoking cessation.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) designates this educational activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
This activity is approved for one AAFP Prescribed credit. Credit may be claimed for 1 year from the date of this issue. The physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent in the educational activity. This course will expire online at midnight December 31, 2007.
