OBJECTIVES After reading the article, Approaching Difficult Communication Tasks in Oncology, the learner should be able to:

•  Describe the common communication pitfalls that physicians should try to avoid.

•  Identify and begin to cultivate the basic skills that will enhance physician-patient communication.

•  Understand the key communication tasks linked to different points along the illness trajectory.

The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one-half category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.

This activity is approved for one-half AAFP Prescribed credit. Credit may be claimed for 1 year from the date of this issue. The physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent in the educational activity. This quiz must be submitted online by May 1, 2006.
