OBJECTIVES After reading the article, ACS Guidelines for the Early Detection of Cancer, 2005, the learner should be able to:
Understand the ACS guidelines for the early detection of cancer and the rationale behind them.
Identify patients at average, increased, and high risk of various cancers, and provide them with guidance regarding appropriate early detection options.
Discuss prominent emerging cancer detection technologies with patients.
Understand how health care access factors affect the prevalence of cancer screening and adherence to recommended screening guidelines.
The ACS designates this educational activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Each physician should claim only those credits that he or she actually spent in the activity. This quiz must be completed online by January 1, 2006.
