OBJECTIVES After reading the article, The Impact of the Internet on Cancer Outcomes, the learner should be able to:

•  Understand the scope of the numbers and types of people who use the Internet to get cancer information.

•  Describe the different ways in which cancer patient and those close to them use the Internet.

•  Discuss the attitudes of cancer patients and their physicians toward cancer information available on the Internet.

•  Understand the areas in which our knowledge of Internet use among cancer patients is deficient, as well as the areas that might prove most fruitful for additional research.

The American Cancer Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of one-half category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he or she actually spent in the activity.
