OBJECTIVES After reading the article, Keratinocyte Carcinoma, the learner should be able to:

•  Describe the epidemiology of and risk factors for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the skin.

•  Understand the clinical approach to these cancers and their precursor lesions, including the indications for and techniques used in biopsy.

•  Discuss effective prevention and early detection methods for BCC and SCC.

•  Understand the current options available for treatment of these lesions.

•  The American Cancer Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of one category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he or she actually spent in the activity.
