OBJECTIVES After reading the article, The Current State of Hormonal Therapy for Prostate Cancer, the learner should be able to:

•  Explain the various methods of primary androgen ablation as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.
•  Describe the effects of hormonal therapy in conjunction with radical prostatectomy, external beam irradiation, and brachytherapy on patient outcomes.
•  Identify both the side effects and costs associated with androgen deprivation therapy.
